About the product
During the nineteen-sixties and seventies I was a huge fan of both steam and diesel locomotives but then drifted away from the scene when that terrible thing called ' work ' got in the way. After a pretty successful career in retailing for over twenty years I rekindled my interest in all things railways and, along with my son, came up with the idea of buying our own diesel locomotive. The new freight operator E.W.S. were disposing of many locos and we proceeded to bid for a class 20(20169), a bid which to my great surprise was successful. The seeds of our activities in locomotive preservation were now sown. Our plans were to perhaps buy a second locomotive but,as you will realise if you read on, those plans have certainly developed over the years.
